Apocalypto

This gruesome and insanely gripping movie was... I don't even know. I want to absolutely love it for it's on-par, bloody effects, but I don't because it's crazy Mel Gibson. I know that's a terrible thing to say, I shouldn't hold the movie responsible for his crazy actions as a person. I want to say that it was great. I loved every shocking moment. He really does seem to just go exactly where you'd expect and you're not upset about it. He truly brings to life the horror that was the Mayan culture. How gruesome the sacrifices they made to the gods were. It shows that these indigenous people truly believed that they were the people closest to god. That they were the people who were the prophets of time, that they shaped what was to come. It was in, I'm assuming, ancient mayan dialect so it was in subtitles. It was a good movie, it was very gripping, bewildering, and horrifying. Mel Gibson doesn't glorify these people and it shows in this movie or then again, portraying them like this only shows the gravity of the power they wielded.

Predators

Starring: Adrien Brody and Topher Grace

This was a pretty good movie. The beginning was pretty slow, but when it started to get going it did. The effects were definitely there, and the predators looked realistic. This time around, I felt that they made it way too easy for them to outsmart and defeat the predators. I felt like in the original one they made you believe that it seemed almost impossible for the people to survive. They did make a point about portraying that one of the people had prior knowledge about the predators and maybe the writers were trying to make it as if the viewers will be people that have seen the first one. In light of that, then the fact that they outsmarted the predators probably makes more sense. The movie was pretty good so watch it on a HD flat screen with some good sound and you'll probably enjoy it as well.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Starring: Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson(because she is fierce!)

Well, I just have to say it's epic, obviously. The movie does have some rough slow parts in the middle. The scenes when Hermoine and Harry are trekking through the wilderness are the ones that are slow because of the plot development. Regardless of those small slow points, the movie itself is great. They stuck with pretty much everything from the book and that was refreshing. Many directors like to take artistic liberties and sometimes they don't always make the break (M.Night). They stuck with the brilliance that J.K.Rowling created and that was great. I bet the next movie will be explosive when I finally get the chance to see it. This is a can't miss movie!

New Castle

Starring: Lachlan Buchanan and Xavier Samuel (2008)

This is a foreign LGBT film from Australia I believe and I don't know how I feel about the film. Of course, the gay character is the weird outcast guy that has a popular surfing brother. The situation he gets into with one of his brothers surfing friends was weird for me. He and this other guy start watching each other masturbate in a secluded area of a deserted beach. I'm not sure it was a weird film and if you're going to watch it, watch it if you have nothing else better to watch. It wasn't one of the best LGBT independent films, but watch it and let me know how you feel about it. I would love to have some feedback with other opinions on this film.

Going the Distance

Staring: Drew Barrymore and Justin Long

This movie might have come out a while ago now, but I've just finished watching this hilarious romantic comedy. Yes, it's a chick flick, gay man's dream of a movie, but it was absolutely adorable and hilarious. They certainly did a great job with the comedic timing, and the cast was perfect. The auxiliary characters are: Christina Applegate, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, and Jim Gaffigan. They're definitely a great comedic team because I was genuinely laughing. They didn't use tired, run of the mill jokes, but used situational humor to make the grade. Although the main characters were using the antiquated theme of long distance dating, they really turned the tired theme around and made it enjoyable. I might just have an undying affinity for Drew Barrymore, but they all did a good job. It was a funny, tear-jerking, romantic love story that made you love the journey. I would definitely find some time to watch this movie.
